HALLO~!  Happy New Year! It's time to catch up with Judy and Linda.

Our next episode will be a First Impressions episode with "The Glory" (더 글로리) starring Song HyeKyo, "Under the Queen's Umbrella" (슈룹) starring Kim HyeSoo and "The Interest of Love" (사랑의 이해) starring Yoo YeonSeok and Moon GaYoung.

Digressions:

1:34 - Listener E-mails!

19:25 - Surprisingly, Linda is enjoying "Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area" (종이의 집: 공동경제구역) and now the second season is out.

23:09 - Judy was disappointed by the Netflix show, "Korea No. 1" (코리아넘버원) with Yoo JaeSuk, Lee Kwang Soo and Kim YeonKoung. For a show that's supposed to impress you with the skill of master artisans, it focuses too much on the squabbling between the cast members.

26:44 - Linda finally tried "Community" and loves the first four seasons. Judy is ecstatic. Everyone should watch it, we say!

28:20 - "Andor" is Judy's favourite show from 2022. The struggles of regular people against the vast Empire in the Star Wars universe is portrayed in a way that makes the danger palpable and relatable.

30:06 - Linda binged the new popular series, "Wednesday" and found it to be good fun!

31:20 - Judy and Robert watched "Dragon Age: Absolution", an animated show on Netflix. It takes place soon after the events of the video game, "Dragon Age: Inquisition". Psst, Judy talked about the video game in KDMEO episode 181!

34:37 - Linda watched "Matilda the Musical" that was just released on Netflix and really enjoyed it.

37:17 - "Pentiment" is an excellent video game from Obsidian Entertainment and Judy wishes more people had played it for its deep dive into art, religion and faith in the Renaissance era. The VOD of Judy's playthrough is now up on Youtube.

41:38 - Linda's favourite kpop group, NCT DREAM, has remade the first generation kpop classic, "Candy". Click here to watch their music video. Then click here to watch H.O.T's remastered video

43:30 - Judy is currently playing as a 1940s detective in "L.A. Noire" and is constantly wondering if she's doing it right.

50:04 - Judy and Linda check out some Kdrama trailers to pick out the candidates for the First Impressions episode.

We were unable to record this weekend, so here's the edited version of a Mini-Episode we posted on Patreon in May 2021 about JTBC's "Melo Is My Nature", starring Chun WooHee, Jeon YeoBeen, Han JiEun and Ahn JaeHong.

"Business Proposal" (사내 맞선) will be incorporated into our Spring 2022 First Impressions episode along with "My Liberation Notes" (나의 해방일지), "Our Blues" (우리들의 블루스) and "Shooting Stars" (별똥별).

Audio Credits:

It's all e-mails and midambles, baby! Judy and Linda catch up on a lot of e-mails and random stuff they've been doing for the past 2 months.

We'll be doing a First Impressions episode soon, featuring "Thirty, Nine" (서른, 아홉) starring Son YeJin, Jeon MiDo and Kim JiHyun, "Twenty-Five Twenty-One" (스물다섯 스물하나) starring Kim TaeRi and Nam JooHyuk and "Forecasting Love and Weather" (기상청 사람들: 사내연애 잔혹사 편) starring Park MinYoung and Song Kang.

18:36 - Judy watched all of "The Silent Sea" (고요의 바다), starring Gong Yoo, Bae DooNa and Kim SunYoung. Watch out for ***MAJOR SPOILERS*** 21:19-21:50!

24:15 - Linda enjoyed the chemistry between Choi WooSik and Kim DaMi on "Our Beloved Summer" (그 해 우리는), but alas, extraneous nonsense.

38:12 - Judy is loving the absurdity of "What We Do in the Shadows". The first two seasons are now available on Disney+. Check it out if you like Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement's work!

40:25 - Linda and Judy found "Hawkeye" to have a great balance between comedy and drama. Who knew we would look forward to a show starring arguably the worst Avenger?

42:04 - Wow, "Eternals" is bland bland bland. ***MAJOR SPOILERS BUT DO YOU CARE*** at 42:04-44:19.

47:24 - Linda finally finished "Squid Game" (오징어 게임)! We do not like this trend of trying to force shows into multiple seasons.

49:44 - If you haven't started yet, Judy insists that you watch "The Book of Boba Fett". You might think "Where the heck is this going?", but Judy INSISTS. You won't regret it.

50:39 - Linda gave up on the Marvel animated series, "What If?" after 10 minutes. Yeah, don't bother.

51:49 - Judy is a newbie at "Sea of Thieves". Even though there are scary PVP randos around, it's the only chance to kind of be at a beach and eat a coconut, dammit! Also, watch "Master and Commander", you cowards!

58:41 - Linda is sad about the slapdash final season of "Kim's Convenience". Get your stuff together, CBC!

59:40 - Judy needed another Bioware RPG with romance, so obviously she played "Dragon Age: Inquisition"! Who is her DA boyfriend? *psst* He'll never be as good as Garrus.

1:02:29 - Linda rewatched "Anne with an E" and is saddened by its premature end. For heaven's sake, CBC!

1:05:12 - Judy loves the heartwarming stories from "Queer Eye". If you need affirmation that you are good and are worth good things, please try it out.

KOREANS LOVE KICKS AND THEY LOVE REVENGE. David and Robert join Judy and Teresa to talk about the first 2 eps of "Kingdom" (킹덤) Season 2, a Netflix mini-series starring Ju JiHoon and Bae DooNa.

Robert helpfully decides to angle for a craft beer sponsorship. David wants a beard desperately and also lends us professional insight about cinematography. Judy feels like the Crown Prince's (Ju JiHoon) sudden turn to revenge mode is abandoning his arc from Season 1 about saving his subjects from the zombie threat. Teresa posits a theory about how someone figured out how to use the immortal flower to create zombies.

Our next episode about the finale episodes of "Crash Landing On You" will be just Judy and Teresa, because Linda couldn't join us because of social distancing. Please be patient with us while we figure out a way to record together.

Digressions:

1:30 – New Patreon donors and Netflix Party planning!

2:55 – Listener E-mails! Click here to watch the video recommended by our listener, Curtis!

7:28 – "Isle of Dogs" directed by Wes Anderson

8:42 – "Burning" starring Yoo AhIn, Steven Yeun and Jung JongSeo

11:14 - "The Handmaiden" directed by Park ChanWook

Audio credits:

INFINITE – “The Chaser”

Due to scheduling issues, we were unable to record about the final episodes of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo" this week. As punishment, Judy forced Robert to watch the first episode of the new TVN drama, "Chicago Typewriter" (시카고 타자기), starring Yoo AhIn, Im SooJung and Go GyungPyo.

Judy is cranky about everything in this drama. Judy and Robert are annoyed that the main characters are good at everything they put their minds to. Robert is enamoured with the big foozy magical dog that shows up in the episode. Judy is not at all surprised that Subway was once again a sponsor of this TVN drama.

Next week, Linda will be back and we'll finally be talking about the finale of "Weightlifting Kim Bok Joo"! We can't wait!

Did you watch "Chicago Typewriter"? What did you think? Is Judy unjustly cranky?  In which martial arts can you get 17 degrees?

Please send us your comments, questions and suggestions!

Hey guys! Last Friday, Linda and I recorded our thoughts on episodes 13-14 of "Goblin: The Lonely and Great God" (쓸쓸하고 찬란하신 도깨비). However, when I listened to the playback, we sounded like Transformers with bronchitis. So, many apologies to my co-host, Linda, and to you, our listeners.

This week, Robert was our special guest and we talked about the first episode of "Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo" (역도요정 김복주), starring Lee SungKyung and Nam JooHyuk.

Robert is enthralled by the music references, which completely went over Judy's head. Judy worries if she's too old to be the target audience. Despite the Mean Girls-ish cliquey bickering, we found Kim Bokjoo (Lee SungKyung) delightful. Jung Joonhyung (Nam JooHyuk) starts off the series as a self-involved douchebag, but that's what the drama production intended, right?

Thanks again to Robert, for being a last-minute guest and also being our guest editor this week!

Have you watched "Weightlifting Fairy" yet? Did you enjoy it? Be honest, did you actually understand that the characters were saying "swag"? Please tell us @kdramamyeyesout on Facebook, Twitter and Gmail!

Instead, we watched the first episodes of various K-Dramas, like Scarlet Heart:Ryeo, Reply 1988, Tomorrow Cantabile, I Remember You (aka Hello Monster), Descendants of the Sun and Doctors.
