In this week's episode, Judy and Linda talk about episodes 3-4 of "Goblin: The Lonely and Great God" (쓸쓸하고 찬란하신 도깨비) from TVN. It stars Gong Yoo, Kim GoEun and Lee DongWook.
Because it was originally intended to be released as part of last week's podcast, you'll notice it's slightly shorter than our normal ramblings. To be quite honest, not much happened in episodes 3 and 4 that was worth talking about. Do you really need us to delve into the sammich boy from Paris?
We're not quite sure how "Goblin" manages to grab our attention in spite of its ridiculously slow pacing and nonsensical push-pull between the two main leads. Linda has some theories about the past lives of the Grim Reaper (Lee Dongwook) and Sunny (Yoo Inna). Judy has a very simple solution to the Goblin's conflicting desires: true love or a peaceful end to his life.

돼지: [dwe-ji] pig.
뽀뽀해: [ppo-ppo-hae] "ppo-ppo" is a childish way of saying "kiss" and "hae" is an informal imperative form of "to do"; basically "Kiss each other!"

Linda and Judy are starting a new series this week, "Goblin: The Lonely and Great God" (쓸쓸하고 찬란하신 도깨비) from TVN. It stars Gong Yoo, Kim GoEun and Lee DongWook.
We had a lot of questions. How did Kim Shin (Gong Yoo) travel from Korea to Canada in the 11th century with his mortal servant? Why must this drama have a romance between a 19 year-old Ji Euntak (Kim GoEun) and a 939 year-old? Why do we love watching the Goblin-Grim Reaper bromance more than the Goblin-Euntak interaction?
Most importantly: Do Koreans still use bankbooks and if so, how do they work?

In this week's episode, Judy and Linda talk about episodes 7 and 8 of the SBS drama, "Legend of the Blue Sea", starring Lee Minho and Jun Jihyun.
We were really hopeful after last week's events, but we can't seem to find a foothold in this drama. As talented as the main actors are, the plot is so bloated with events and characters that are barely explained, let alone likable. Rather than continue with this series and bore you to tears with our sighs, we've decided to move onto another series for next week! Please stay tuned! 기대해주세요!

Whew! After much discussion, Judy and Linda have decided to continue watching "The Legend of the Blue Sea", starring Lee Minho and Jun Jihyun. It was getting a bit dicey there. This week, they are discussing episodes 5-6, which they found so much more enjoyable than previous episodes.
Judy goes on a rant about how no one is actually doing anything helpful during the code on Simcheong in the emergency room. That's from approx 53-58 minute mark, so if medical stuff doesn't interest you, please skip ahead. Linda decides that her favourite character is now Taeho, the 'Techy dude'. He only has two lines per episode, but has an expressive face rivaling that of Jun Jihyun's.

This week, Linda and Judy discuss episodes 3-4 of the SBS drama, "Legend of the Blue Sea" (푸른 바다의 전설), starring Lee Minho and Jun Jihyun.
We are having a rather difficult time with this drama. The weird pacing means the show has too much time to kill, which it attempts and fails to fill up with miserable side characters that we care nothing about. Jun Jihyun, as always, is a delight. Sadly, there isn't enough fun interaction between her character and Lee Minho's, because they have to spend episode 3 trying to reunite after the random memory erasing at the end of episode 2! Who thought that was a good idea?
Guys! Guys? Are we crazy?

깡패: [ggang-peh] gangster.
미역국: [mi-yeok-guk] seaweed (mi-yeok) soup (guk). Traditionally served as a birthday meal.
간장게장: [gan-jang-geh-jang] crabs cut into pieces (still in their shells) and cooked in soy sauce.
We mentioned Cha Taehyeon's cameo in episode 4. He and Jun Jihyun starred in a super popular 2001 rom-com, called "My Sassy Girl" (엽기적인 그녀). You can click here to read the Wikipedia page.
We were really tempted to abandon this drama, as per our 4-episode rule, but decided to give it one more week. Linda keeps falling asleep, for cripes' sake.

Ah, we finally have a new drama to start watching and it's "The Legend of the Blue Sea"! It's on SBS and stars Lee Minho and Jun Jihyun. Special drop-in guest, Robert, joined us for about 5 minutes near the end of the episode.
What is up with the ridiculous retconning of mermaids in this drama? Why do they have so many powers? Is Shimcheong (Jun Jihyun) a mermaid who also travelled through space and time to go from Joseon-era Korea to modern Spain or is she an immortal being that actually swam all that distance? Does anyone ever actually say Joonjae's (Lee Minho) name?
Seriously, mermaid oil?

Linda and Judy thoroughly date themselves by mentioning 90s Kpop girl group, Fin.K.L. You can search on Youtube to listen to their 1998 song, "Blue Rain". Yes, in the episode, Judy says that the group's name stands for "Fine Killing Liberty". It's actually "Fin Killing Liberty". This week, Judy and Linda watched "A Werewolf Boy" (2012), starring Linda's favourite actor, Song Joongki, and Park Boyoung. They are joined by a special guest, Robert, who inadvertently watched the second half of the movie. Let's face it though, he didn't miss much in the first half.
We were...confused. Is this a romantic movie? Judy was convinced it was supposed to be a romance that didn't quite achieve the emotional payoff that it was hoping for. Linda and Robert thought that the romantic feelings were one-sided, from Cheolsu (Song Joongki)'s point of view, while Suni (Park Boyoung) treated him like a pet dog.
Either way, Suni is a terrible person.

Oh noes! "Moonlight Drawn by Clouds" (구르미 그린 달빛) is over. Judy and Linda discuss the final four episodes of the KBS2 drama starring Park Bogum, Kim Yoojung and Jinyoung (from B1A4).
The ending left us feeling strangely unfulfilled. Episodes 15 and 16 felt like the showrunners were killing time until they had to wrap everything up in episodes 17 and 18 with a neat little bow.
Some clarifications:
1) King Sunjo (순조, the Crown Prince's father) did not actually die within the timeline of this drama. It was just Judy's wishful thinking. He actually stepped down for Crown Prince Yeong to act as regent.
2) The next drama we're going to be watching is "Legend of the Blue Sea" (푸른 바다의 전설). In it, the female lead is named "Simcheong", which is a name from a famous Korean folktale about a girl who sacrifices herself for her blind father. You can click here to read the story.

Hi guys! Judy is currently on vacation in Korea, so we had to record this ahead of time. This means that we won't be able to discuss the final four episodes of Moonlight Drawn by Clouds until end of October. In our 6th episode, Judy and Linda discuss episodes 13 and 14 of the KBS2 drama, Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (구르미 그린 달빛), starring Kim Yoojung, Park Bogum and Jinyoung (B1A4). This week left us emotionally exhausted from the heartbreak portrayed by the Crown Prince, Samnom (now Raon, we guess?), Yoonsung and Hayun. Judy cried. A lot. Linda was bloodthirsty and claimed to be so, for "good reasons". Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight. All the storylines are slowly starting to come together and we hope they pay off.
There will be a mini-episode coming out on October 25. Judy and Linda will post an episode covering the final four episodes of Moonlight Drawn by Clouds at the end of October or beginning of November, so please be patient!

There were many exciting moments in these two episodes. We see Yoonsung's dark side again (hooray!) and the cool fight scene helps break up the cheesy romance scenes. Judy and Linda reveal their not-so-secret crush on Captain America and wish Samnom would go back to being a self-sufficient woman who can defend herself.

We have a confession to make. We were rather disappointed by episode 9 of Moonlight Drawn by Clouds (구르미 그린 달빛). The acting, especially that of Park Bogum, is still superb, but we found the quick jumps between all the side plots very tedious to follow. Come on, guys, we know why we watch this show and it's not for the nonsensical rebellion storyline. And where was Yoonsung (Jinyoung from B1A4) in the episode?
Thankfully, episode 10 gave us all the sugarcoated romance our hearts desired between Samnom (Kim Yoojung) and the Crown Prince (Park Bogum). Yoonsung is back for a brief, but powerful confrontation with the Crown Prince. Judy is convinced that there will soon be a Crown Princess pageant in which Samnom and Hayun (Chae Soobin) will have to compete, because of course they do. Linda, who was previously optimistic about the eventual happy ending of this drama series, now isn't so sure. Don't give up, Linda!
